Program Directors

CROATIA PROGRAM DIRECTORS

EMERY KOMLOS

Emery is a senior at UC Berkeley studying Media Studies with a minor in Global Studies. She currently volunteers with the campus radio station, KALX 90.7 FM, in the sports department and is interested in sports broadcasting and audio engineering. In her free time, she enjoys studying foreign languages, snowboarding, and making making music. Emery volunteered in Croatia last summer where she was placed at both Sunny Village Camp in Koprivnica and Biograd na Moru. While she loved both placements, Sunny Village holds a special place in her heart thanks to the welcoming camp family and exceptional campers at this one-of-a-kind place. Her summer with Learning Enterprises was challenging, yet exceptionally rewarding and allowed her to grow in unexpected ways. The skills she developed during her time at placement continue to serve her everyday and couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to return as Program Director this year. Emery is excited and looking forward to working with the next generation of Learning Enterprises volunteers.

SAYLER GENTRY

Sayler is a senior at Appalachian State University, majoring in psychology and minoring in Criminal Justice. In her free time, she enjoys photography, CrossFit, and exploring the outdoors. Sayler grew up teaching English with her grandmother, who taught her about the power of teaching and how learning English can serve as a pathway to great opportunity. She took these lessons with her this past summer to Croatia, where she taught in the town of Biograd na Moru. She holds her experiences in Biograd and the friendships she made close to her heart. Her time in Croatia helped her grow immensely, gain incredible confidence, and form strong bonds with her students. She is beyond excited to share her love for the country and its special people with the upcoming PY25 volunteers!
