Program Structure
The Cambodia Pilot brings to the Learning Enterprises table a fresh and innovative approach to teaching.
Teaching A Person To Fish, Teaching A Teacher to Teach:
Volunteers will need to come to Cambodia with the mindset of being servant-teachers. To this end, each volunteer will be asked to be of service as a teacher to his or her students, host families, and school on a daily basis: conducting study groups on the weekends, offering specialty lessons outside of the curriculum on their days off, and holding discussions with the teachers on effective methods for instruction in the classroom twice a week.
The Ideal Volunteer for Cambodia:
- Ability to cope with change/not knowing anything important
- Experience with teaching
- Enthusiasm for the unknown, and aptitude to dealing with it—these qualities must be a 2-in-1 package
- Understanding of what it actually means to go live in a developing country for 2 months--it's not so pretty as it is hot, dirty, and frustrating
- Understanding that the program starts the moment of acceptance
